July 15, 2009

it has been a while since i have changed my blackberry theme. i have been using the doublezen theme by SixTen webdesign for a long while now. Crackberry posted a new free theme called Tweme in their shop and i am digging it. the theme is interesting because its inverted so the theme’s appearance looks like a film negative. it runs fast and smooth and its also today plus zen (customizeable!) its available for the Curve os v4.5 and blackberry bold os v4.6 only. for all you tweeters, you will love it. follow me @nerdyconnie.

its Official: Facebook v1.6 for Blackberry available tonight

June 6, 2009

the wait is over nerdyheads. i know you all couldn’t sleep over this, but now you can rest easy. social networking giant Facebook has upgraded their blackberry application and its now available for free at www.blackberry.com/facebook from your blackberry browser. i downloaded it a little bit ago and the innerface is definitely cleaner. it looks much more functional and seems to carry more information similar to accessing the site on your computer. you can now access profiles without having to ‘go to the mobile site’ (boy that was annoying in the past!) although it is no where close to iPhone/iTouch’s Facebook app, it is still nice to receive some Blackberry love on one of my favorite clients to peruse while i am bored in lecture.

its OFFICIAL!!!! Pandora for Blackberry!

March 18, 2009

A Post St. Patrick’s day treat!!! I love using Slacker radio on my Blackberry Bold, but it definitely is not my first love. Finally! Crackberry announced today that Pandora for Blackberry is finally available! I downloaded it this morning and tried it out on wifi and it was running smoothly. As soon as I opened the application, it prompted me to login. I was excited to see that it pulled up all my saved radio stations (from when i listen to Pandora on my computer) The application ran smoothly and even included a battery and service status on the top of the application. Unfortunately BoyGenius reported that it does not support T-Mobile or the Storm yet. 😦 Sorry bbs! Guess you will have to wait!
As for all others>>>> to download Pandora to your Blackberry go to http://www.pandora.com/ on your blackberry browser.

TokBox.com: Free Video mail and Video Chatting

March 13, 2009

My cousin Alan recently sent me an interesting email. In the email was an easy to click link to view a video mail he sent from his computer (with a web cam) of him and his son. I was amazed at how easy it was to click and view the video. With further probing at www.tokbox.com, I discovered this service is free and doesnt require you to download any additional software! This sounded too easy! Well guess what folks, it actually is too easy. I signed up for an account tonight and sent my first video mail to my best friend Crystal in Florida. This website is an easy way to keep in contact with friends and family that are far away and also just plain fun! TokBox also allows you to integrate your favorite IM applications and do video conferencing and it looks like it even supports Facebook video chat!I haven’t tried out the Facebook add on yet but it sounds really neat! You even get your own personal url! Mine is http://www.tokbox.com/connie Sign up yourself and try it out!

Free Blueprint theme for Blackberry Bold

March 8, 2009

Another creative theme by SixTen Webdesign called Blueprint. This one is very fun but I had a little bit of a hard time reading the font print, probably because of the light blue, and white font. I still really like it and am thoroughly impressed again with SixTen Webdesign.

Sync your Blackberry to your iGoogle

February 18, 2009

I have been using Google Sync for a while now and I absolutely love it. If you are an avid Gmail and Blackberry user, then this free Googleapplication is made for you. Here are some of the features Google listed:

1. Synchronize your contacts. Get your Gmail contacts quickly and easilyto your BlackBerry smartphone. With Sync, you can have access to youraddress book at any time and place that you need it.

2. Get calendar alerts. Using your BlackBerry smartphone’s nativecalendar, you can now access your Google calendar even when you don’thave network coverage, and be alerted for upcoming appointments withsound or vibration. It automatically runs in the background, so youcan attend to other tasks and still be reminded of your appointments.

3. Always in sync. Your calendar and contacts stay synchronized whetheryou access it from your computer or your phone. You can add or editcontacts or calendar entries right on your BlackBerry smartphone or onyour Google account on the web. Synchronize one or many calendars atthe same time.

Download the application at this link:http://m.google.com/sync

New Google Latitude: Stalk your friends!

February 5, 2009

Google just launched a new free phone application called Google Latitude for your PDA phone that allows you to show your location of where you are on Google Maps and locate where your friends are. I was rather intrigued by this application and just wanted to see if any of you guys wanted to try it with me. if you are concerned about privacy, Google Latitude allows you to turn ON and turn OFF your location at any point in time. Google Latitude updates your location with a photo icon of your face and where you are. It supposedly has some cool features and allows you to stay connected! (even more than we all are!) lol

So i have been stalking my friends all morning! It is pretty amusing to be able to track all of your friends whereabouts. I definitely find this entertaining! I also really like the ability to turn Off your location, although I doubt i will be partaking in any shady activity where this would be necessary! =)
It is compatible with Blackberry for sure. Its not compatible with iPhone yet which is very weird since iPhone comes with Google Maps! Make sure you download the newest version of Google Maps (v3.0) to use Latitude!
To try go to www.google.com/latitude on your phone browser.

My New Favorite Free Theme: HiddenDock by Ecruz

January 23, 2009

I just downloaded this one tonight and it is my new favorite Today style! the Hidden dock sliding up and down is kind of annoying but i think i will eventually get used to it. it is nice that the Bottom dock is customizeable! (the vertical dock is not) All in all, the clean Apple icons give my Blackberry Bold (only for bolds!) a fun new feel! yay! Get it from PimpMyBerry here.

P.S you may need to create a login to get the OTA link.
