the wait is over nerdyheads. i know you all couldn’t sleep over this, but now you can rest easy. social networking giant Facebook has upgraded their blackberry application and its now available for free at www.blackberry.com/facebook from your blackberry browser. i downloaded it a little bit ago and the innerface is definitely cleaner. it looks much more functional and seems to carry more information similar to accessing the site on your computer. you can now access profiles without having to ‘go to the mobile site’ (boy that was annoying in the past!) although it is no where close to iPhone/iTouch’s Facebook app, it is still nice to receive some Blackberry love on one of my favorite clients to peruse while i am bored in lecture.

March 18, 2009TokBox.com: Free Video mail and Video Chatting
March 13, 2009
My cousin Alan recently sent me an interesting email. In the email was an easy to click link to view a video mail he sent from his computer (with a web cam) of him and his son. I was amazed at how easy it was to click and view the video. With further probing at www.tokbox.com, I discovered this service is free and doesnt require you to download any additional software! This sounded too easy! Well guess what folks, it actually is too easy. I signed up for an account tonight and sent my first video mail to my best friend Crystal in Florida. This website is an easy way to keep in contact with friends and family that are far away and also just plain fun! TokBox also allows you to integrate your favorite IM applications and do video conferencing and it looks like it even supports Facebook video chat!I haven’t tried out the Facebook add on yet but it sounds really neat! You even get your own personal url! Mine is http://www.tokbox.com/connie Sign up yourself and try it out!

Viigo: free RSS reader/newsfeed for Blackberry/Windows mobile
August 10, 2008
i’ve been using Viigo for quite some time now. its a great application to utilize when I am in a waiting room or i have  a few minutes to waste.  why i have not posted about impressive this application yet is beyond me. Viigo has recently released a beta of their newly upgraded app. they made some changes and i am definitely enjoying it. Viigo is basically THE premier rss reader/newsfeeder to have for your blackberry. it is absolutely free (which makes it even more AWESOME). you can customize the newsfeeds to what you are interested in and the new beta application even allows you to add weather updates and Olympics 2008 information and sports scores as well!Â
Pandora: free internet radio
August 10, 2008
I recently stumbled on my new favorite thing. I kept hearing from friends and colleagues about a new application available on the iPhone that allows you to listen to a radio station that you create called Pandora. the idea sounded familiar to Last.fm. Pandora is basically a free streaming radio station that allows you to create a radio station for yourself based on your favorite artist. Pandora then plays other songs that are similar to your favorite artist. it is a great way to find new artists that you like. not only is it available on your iphone, but you can listen on your computer through your web browser. i started using it tonight and i am definitely addicted!Â
How to Install/Upgrade your Blackberry OS
June 14, 2008
These directions I pulled and modified from the Pinstack forums, I always refer to them when upgrading my OS on my Blackberry since they are legitimate and work:Follow these instructions and you should be able to have OS 4.x working for you too.1.) BACK UP YOUR DATA! – I can’t stress how important it is to get a good backup in the event you need to retore your data.2.) Download lastest OS 4.x3.) Install 4.x using the .exe file you just downloaded.4.) Delete the ‘Vendor.xml’ file ( C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader ) Or search your computer’s hard drive for the “vendor.xml” file. Once you find it, delete it.5.) Connect your device to your PC via the USB cable.Â6.) Open Desktop Manager. It should recognize that there is an upgrade for your device. (‘Vendor.xml’ must be deleted for this step to work) Follow the prompts and you will have OS 4.x installed in about 15 to 20 minutes.Good luck!Â
